Abstract   Twenty-eight patients with breast cancer were treated with the inductive combination chemotheraphy(FAC Regimen). In 18 of the 28 patient, Quadrantectomy, modified radical mas- tectomy and simple mastectomy were performed. The threatment protocol(FAC Regimen) consisted of fluorouracil, given on days 1 and 8 at a dose of 500 mg/m, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide, given on day 1 at does of 50 and 500 mg/ m respectively. All patients recevied three cycles of chemotheraphy. Each of the three drugs were repeated, starting on day 28. After the inductive combination chemotheraphy, An overall objective response rate of 72% was achieyed with complete response of l7% and partial response of 55%,. The tumor size was decreased less than 5 cm in the all patients after the chemotheraphy and then, In 14 of 18 patients, Breast-preservation theraphy(Quadrantectomy) was performed. The frequent non-hematologic toxicity were alopecia, nausea and vomiting. In conclusion, It appers that the inductive combination chemotheraphy can reduce tumor size and therefore can increase the chance of breast-preserving operation.
